Keeping Saudi Arabia safe from Narcotics through incineration. Addfield TB/HB with Flue Gas Scrubber. The Middle East is combating the recent rise in drug trafficking through cross regional cooperation. A direct result of the success in this field is a rapid increase in the amount of drugs seized that need to be suitably destroyed. The Saudi Arabian government published a tender searching for four incinerators that would be able to completely incinerate any drugs seized. Increasing numbers of drug traffickers were being intercepted crossing borders by land rather than air or sea, making the activity easier to combat. The most common drugs passing through the Middle East at the time were amphetamines, opium, heroin and morphine. Although the tender process welcomed applications from a number of incineration manufacturers, as the market leaders, Addfield were chosen. The machines that were selected were four of our TB/HBs which allow for large amounts of narcotics to be incinerated daily. These machines had been specifically designed with narcotics disposal in mind. This included the addition of our own advanced ‘Flue Gas Scrubber’. An Addfield TB/HB incinerator, suitable for the complete destruction of confiscated narcotics in Saudi Arabia. The Flue Gas Scrubber system is a particle suppressant system used to further lower the incinerator emissions. It was scaled to size for the TB/HB and constructed from stainless steel. It works on the principle of using liquid to intercept gas particles. Liquid is injected from the top of the tower to create a counter current flow. This results in a highly efficient collection process leaving the lowest pollutant concentration possible. Additional flule gas scrubbing is a feature when burning something as toxic as drugs. Throughout the commissioning, two Addfield engineers were dedicated to this assignment and provided the customers with complete support including onsite training and commissioning with the help of a translator. Adapted from an agricultural TB incinerator, this machine has been re-designed to perform to the standards of the Saudi Arabian government.
