Overview of Manure Pit Systems for Egg Production
Manure pit systems are essential for maintaining hygiene in organic, barn, and free-range egg production. These systems involve using a section of the poultry house as a manure pit, covered with slats, where droppings are collected and stored throughout the laying phase. After each batch, the manure is removed, and the pit is dismantled.
