Product catalog summary
Introduction
This manual is designed for dealers and owners of Woods Disc Harrow models DHS48, DHS64, DHS80, DHM80, and DHM96. Dealers are tasked with assembly and installation, while owners should read the manual for safe operation. It includes safety instructions, maintenance guidelines, and warranty information.
Specifications
Each model's specifications are detailed, covering working width, weight, blade count, horsepower requirements, hitch type, blade type and diameter, blade spacing, axle size, bearing type, and frame construction. For instance, the DHS48 model has a 48-inch working width, weighs 390 lbs, and requires up to 35 horsepower.
Safety Rules
Safety is a priority, with instructions on wearing protective gear, securing equipment, and ensuring only trained individuals operate it. The use of tractors with ROPS and seat belts is emphasized.
Operation
The Disc Harrow is used for leveling, grading, and discing. Operators should maintain ground speeds of 2 to 6 mph and ensure at least 25% of the tractor and equipment weight is on the front wheels to avoid steering loss.
Maintenance
Maintenance requires lowering the equipment, turning off the engine, and removing the key. Regular checks for bolt tightness and decal legibility are necessary.
Assembly Instructions
Detailed instructions ensure correct setup, including securing components and verifying operational condition.
Dealer Check Lists
Checklists help dealers inspect and verify equipment before customer delivery.
Parts List and Warranty
A comprehensive parts list and warranty details are provided, emphasizing the use of genuine Woods parts for warranty validity and safety.
Safety Precautions
Avoid going underneath equipment due to hydraulic and mechanical risks. Service should not require being underneath the implement. Protective clothing and equipment are advised.
Pre-Operation Checklist
Review safety rules, check lubrication, secure equipment to the tractor, verify decals, and ensure hardware is installed correctly. Check the tractor's ROPS and seat belt condition.
Connecting Disc Harrow to Tractor
The Disc Harrow should be mounted on tractors within specified horsepower ratings, compatible with 3-point tractors with side swing lower lift arms. Adjust or remove the drawbar to prevent interference.
Operation Instructions
For Category 1 and Quick Hitch connections, follow steps to secure the Disc Harrow using appropriate pins and bushings. Adjust the disc attitude by modifying the tractor's top link length.
Disc Blade Adjustment
Disc gangs are adjustable between 0 and 21 degrees, with adjustments made while the tractor's 3-point lift is raised. Ensure both gangs are set to the same angle.
Storage Guidelines
Detach equipment on a hard, level surface and block securely. Keep children and bystanders away.
Service and Maintenance
Never go underneath equipment. Perform service with the engine off and attachment lowered. Tighten bolts and ensure safety decals are installed. Lubricate DHM80 & 96 disc gang axle bearings every 80 hours with lithium grease with MOLY additive.
Disc and Bearing Replacement
Disassemble the gang by removing bolts and nuts, then slide off discs and bearings for replacement. Reassemble in reverse, ensuring proper torque on jam nuts.
Cleaning and Assembly
Remove debris and inspect for damage after use. Follow dealer setup instructions for assembly, ensuring proper adjustment and torque. Complete the dealer checklist before delivery.
