Map and analyze the need for electronics before buying new machines. There has been a lot of talk and writing about GPS since we, as the first in the world, connected GPS to a fertiliser spreader back in 1991. Over the past many years, the interest for GPS has pointed in the direction of automatic headland control and wedge spreading. Today, GPS solutions are increasingly used for what they were originally intended for, namely increasing precision by using application maps. Fortunately, the ordinary farmer can finally benefit from the technique. This is because the solutions have become...

NEW MODELS FROM BOGBALLE The L-line spreaders get M-line technology When Bogballe upgrades its L-line models to get working widths from 10 to 24 meters, they do so using technology developed for M-line. The change from spreading fertiliser to seed is done easily by changing the setting at the bottom outlet of the spreader. At the bottom outlet, one can choose between micro, minimum or standard outlet holes and then the system ensures that the spread doses properly regardless of the spreading material. The micro-outlet can handle quantities as low as 3 kg per hectare, while the standard...

complete GPS solution. Bogballe boasts that they have set a new standard by creating a very user-friendly and easily understandable GPS control system that is controlled from an android tablet. Bogballes in-center spreading system, with quadruple overlap, overlaps an area of up to 1.000 square meter. The sytem allows the fertiliser to be distributed parallel to the spreader and in a 180 degree semicircle behind the spreader. The simple section control is very effective both in headland and in wedges. The L-line spreaders are available both with and without weighing technology and in volumes...

While 30 different governments have ruled in Denmark since 1955, only one brand of fertiliser spreader has ruled Erik Hansens Farm in Ellerup, Funen - the blue ones from Bogballe. * Erik’s father bought the first spreader back in 1955. At that time, we used it to spread Finland saltpeter. We mounted the spreader on the tractor we bought the year before. We were the first to buy such a spreader in our area. Subsequently, one blue spreader has replaced the other. Today, Erik Hansen spreads fertiliser on his 60 hectare farm using an EX spreader with speed related application rate. Even though...

April 2019: Spreading of limestone with a quantity af 500 kg/ha “The combination of weighing technique and fully automatic section control via tablet is something new for us. We see a large potential with this solution as we avoid double spreading on headlands and in wedges. Secondly the possibility for spreading granulated limestone based on field maps makes the spreader a flexible solution for modern crop production.33 Ledeko a.s. LEDEKO, A.S. Letovice, Czech Republic Farm size: 2.850 ha Spreader: L20W plus 2.050 litres Loading of granulated limestone.

Check the tractor's three-point linkage before the season Before starting work in spring, it is always a good idea to check and service the tractor's three-point linkage. A simple piece of advice is to make sure the sway bars are in order to avoid sideways bumps from the spreader. The most important check to perform is that of the top link, especially the condition of the thread. Top link threads often wear out, especially during tillage, where the top link hangs loosely during work, thereby allowing dust particles to get in. The fine dust wears the thread and increases the risk of pulling...

Just polish your glasses Auto steer is comfortable - but keep your eyes open. Photo: Aigars Eglitis, Latvia Tractor astray An unlucky driver wasn't paying attention during a demonstration. With auto steer turned on, the tractor drove itself straight into a deep hole in the field. The tractor got pulled out later that same day, no damages had occurred. Photo: Aigars Eglitis, Latvia. Not quite top tuned It can go very wrong if a lift arm or top linkage breaks. Even a smaller spreader of just over 2 tonnes, as shown here, can break a top link in bad shape. Fortunately, no one was injured...

“Throughout the entire test season, we have used the L20W spreader as a multi-tool for various tasks in the field. At the beginning of the growing season, we started by spreading mineral fertilisers. Here we used the Calibrator ZURF and Navi App to control start/stop in headland and section control in wedges. Whilst already using the section control, we used the possibility of using shape files as application maps. We created the shape files on Cropsat from satellite images. We used this feature throughout the season on our barley, wheat and rapeseed. After harvest, we spread slug pellets...
