The Brix scale readings are used to determine the quality of colostrum:

• Poor Quality: Less than 15 grams IgG/Qt (Brix scale below 19.0) - Do not use.
• Average Quality: Suitable for bull calves.
• Good Quality: Suitable for heifer calves.

The chart provides a detailed conversion from Brix scale readings to IgG values, indicating the quality of colostrum. For example, a Brix reading of 19.0 corresponds to 15 grams IgG/Qt, which is considered inadequate, while a reading of 27.0 corresponds to 96 grams IgG/Qt, indicating good quality.
