DOLPHIN Autumn Seed Profile Status: AHDB Candidate List 2023/24 DSV DOLPHIN joined the new AHDB Candidate List in December 2022 and marks another significant step forward in DSV’s wide portfolio. DSV DOLPHIN has the ability to produce high yields, performing particularly well in the East and West regions. Its reliability- being simple to grow with a high output is especially developed for the current economic and environmental climate. DSV DOLPHIN has strong tolerance to Verticillium tolerance as well as having some of the best tolerance to Sclerotinia DSV’s portfolio. It was one of the best varieties in DSV’s trials in Sweden. DSV DOLPHIN displays standout disease resistance characteristics and holds its own in Gross Output comparisons with a score of 105%, a Seed Yield of 103% and a very high Oil Content of 46.%. This variety offers growers a high level of protection from the growing threat of the TuYV virus now endemic across the UK where it has the potential to reduce yields by up to 20%. It is also one of only a few varieties to feature RLM7+ and multi-gene resistance to stem canker and is an agronomist-friendly variety well suited to integrated crop management systems due to its high resistance to light leaf spot with a score of 6. This variety has strong spring vigour and grows away quickly as the days start to get longer. Rapid development of new leaves is one this variety’s key attributes. DSV DOLPHIN carries the new Harvest Max protection traits, which give their varieties the maximum protection against harvest challenges. It offers some of the longest and biggest pods that DSV have bred to date, with new pod technology inbuilt, ensuring maximum seed retention during harvesting. This new characteristic also helps to ensure quick and even dry down of the plant. DSV DOLPHIN offers growers a new short and compact canopy structure allowing quick and efficient combining. DSV DOLPHIN has a prostrate growth habit, which quickly produces considerable weed-inhibiting ground cover. DSV DOLPHIN is one of our shorter varieties standing at around 144cms. It is also one DSV’s stiffest varieties with a lodging score of 9. This feature also means DSV DOLPHIN is unlikely to need an autumn PGR. Its considerable vigour means that it can be safely drilled later in the season if weather conditions dictate this, although ideally it should be drilled in the optimum autumn window.
