Afra is a medium early, floury cooking quality table potato known for its excellent culinary quality and intensive flavor. It offers a good marketable yield and is characterized by its floury cooking type.
Growing Recommendations- Site Requirements: Medium demands on soil quality; prefer soils with good and uniform water supply due to the high number of tubers.
- Planting: Density of approximately 39,000 - 42,000 plants per hectare with a seed size of 35/55 mm. Normal planting depth is recommended, with sprouting stimulation and preventive control of Rhizoctonia solani advised.
Fertilization- Nitrogen: Local standard of approximately 160 kg/ha, including soil-supplied Nmin.
- Phosphorus: 100 kg/ha at planting, using water-soluble phosphate.
- Potassium: 250 - 300 kg/ha at medium soil supply class; ensure sufficient supply to reduce mechanical damage and bruising risks. Chloride-containing potassium fertilizers may be suggested if applicable.
- Magnesium: 80 kg/ha.

- Tuber: Oval shape, shallow eye depth, yellow netted skin, yellow flesh color, and low raw discoloration.
