ArborSonic 3D Bluetooth Caliper
The ArborSonic 3D Bluetooth Caliper is a tool designed to measure distances in millimeters between two points and transmit the data to a PC via Bluetooth. It is particularly useful for registering the irregular shape of tree trunks and sensor positions for ArborSonic 3D.
Installation
To install the Bluetooth unit of the caliper, ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your PC. Turn on the caliper and wait for it to boot up. Add the device through the Bluetooth settings on your PC using the PIN code 1234. Note the COM port number that appears at the end of the installation. Configure the ArborSonic 3D software to recognize the Bluetooth Caliper by selecting the correct COM port.
Using the Bluetooth Caliper
Attach the caliper arms to the corresponding slots. Recalibrate the caliper if necessary by pressing the button for 5 seconds. Measure the distance between points using the caliper and transmit the data to the ArborSonic 3D software. Ensure the loudspeakers are on for audio instructions. Correct any measurement errors by adjusting the data in the software.
Maintenance
The caliper has integrated batteries chargeable via USB. Charging takes approximately 25 hours, indicated by a red LED turning green when complete. Monitor battery voltage through the ArborSonic software. Avoid deep discharge and keep the caliper charged. The device is not water-resistant and should not be used in rain.

Data transmission uses a baud rate of 9600, with 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity, and XON/XOFF flow control. The data structure includes distance measurements and battery voltage.

Using the Bluetooth Caliper The two arms of the caliper need to be inserted to the slots on the main part. Both of the arms and the slots are numbered, please attach the arms to the corresponding slots, otherwise some parts may be damaged. Move the arms to a position where the pins at the ends touch each other. If you don’t see the value 0000 in this position, then press the button for 5 seconds – until „C 000” appears. The caliper turns off automaticaly after 60 seconds of the last data transmission, the display will start to blink. To prevent it from turning off, press the button until the blinking stops. Maintenance The caliper has integrated batteries that can be charged with the attached cable via USB port. The charging time is around 25 hours. During the charging process red led is on.
