Product catalog summary
Gallagher Electric Fence Check Procedure
1. Check Your Energizer:
  • Turn off the energizer and disconnect the fence from the red button.
  • Turn the energizer back on and measure the voltage using a digital volt meter (DVM) or Fault Finder.
  • If the voltage is below 6000V, the energizer may be broken; contact a Gallagher specialist.
  • If the voltage is 6000V or higher, the energizer is functioning correctly. Record the voltage and proceed.
  • Reconnect the fence and turn the energizer on again.
2. Check the Voltage on Your Fence:
  • Measure the voltage at the end of the fence.
  • If the voltage difference from the energizer is more than 1500V, check the earthing.
  • If the difference is less than 1500V, the energizer and earthing are fine.
3. Inspect Your Fence:
  • Ensure all conductors are tight and intact. Use appropriate tools and parts for tightening or replacing.
  • Check connectors, insulators, posts, and gates for damage and repair or replace as necessary.
4. Check Your Earthing:
  • Create a fault by placing an iron post near the fence, ensuring the voltage is below 1000V.
  • Measure the voltage on the earthing; if above 300V, add more earth stakes until it is below 300V.
If issues persist after completing these checks, contact a Gallagher specialist for further assistance.
