Device Overview & Intended Use
The Connex® Spot Monitor (CSM) is designed for measuring vital signs in adults, pediatric, and neonate patients. Users can switch patient types via the 'Patient' tab.
Mobile Stand Options
The CSM can be mounted on the MS3 Classic Mobile Stand or the Accessory Power Management (APM) Stand, both equipped with WhisperDrive™ wheels for easy movement.
CSM Exterior and Power On
The device includes blood pressure tubing, a power cord, and an SpO2 cable. To turn on the device, press the power button.
Screen Lock Mode
This mode protects patient information and can be activated manually or after inactivity.
Clinician Login Screen
Clinicians can log in using a barcode or by entering their ID and password, allowing access to profile selection.
Home Screen
The home screen displays Device Status, Content, and Navigation areas, showing clinician ID, device location, and connection status.
Profiles
Users can switch between Spot, Intervals, and Office profiles, each with specific features like alarms and BP intervals.
Patient Identification
Patients are identified by scanning their armband before taking vital signs.
Non-Invasive Blood Pressure (NIBP)
Includes instructions for starting/stopping, interpreting results, and proper technique. Interval BPs can be set for automatic measurements.
Pulse Oximetry (SpO2) and Pulse Rate (PR)
Instructions for obtaining accurate readings and setting intervals are provided.
Temperature Measurement
Details on using Braun ThermoScan® and SureTemp® Plus thermometers, including techniques and interferences.
Alarm Management
Instructions for adjusting and silencing alarms, with settings based on facility preferences.
Manual Parameters and Custom Modifiers
Users can enter manual parameters and custom modifiers from the Spot or Intervals profile. Modifiers depend on facility configuration.
Early Warning Scores (EWS)
After entering vital signs, users can select an EWS protocol to calculate scores. The system is customized by the facility, with up to three protocols available. The summary screen shows color-coded scores.
Saving/Clearing Vital Signs
Instructions for saving or clearing vital signs data from the home screen.
Review Tab
Allows viewing of saved vitals, sending them to an EMR, or deleting them. Holds up to 400 sets of vitals for 24 hours.
Clinician Sign Out and Power Down/Sleep
Procedures for signing out and powering down the device.
Cleaning
Guidelines for cleaning the device using compatible wipes and solutions, advising against submerging or spraying directly.
