There was a time when farming was done at a slower pace. It was a time when horses and oxen provided the pulling power and farmers walked the field behind them. Fields were tilled with a single coulter blade fastened in front of a plow that would cut through crop residue and break up clumps of sod prior to turning the soil. And we were there. In 1884, Steven Ingersoll took over a small coulter disc manufacturing company in Sandoval, Illinois. The discs produced there were the state of the art, back then, but everything was about to change. In 1905, the company moved to Galesburg,...

Our North American manufacturing center is the most modern in the industry, on a site that has been producing tillage and planting equipment and components for over 100 years. Proud of our heritage, we are dedicated to serving the farmer through innovation in new products and support. New steels, new processes, new advantages for the farmer. At Ingersoll, we use an advanced proprietary boron steel alloy that’s the best in the industry. This very special steel alloy means that our blades are among the hardest you can buy. Concave Discs Sharp and strong, all day long. Concave discs are used to pulverize and smooth the soil. Large diameter discs, sometimes called plowing discs, cut deep into the soil and turn it as they go. They’re used where extensive soil disturbance is desired and the farmer’s goal is to bury the residue from the last crop. The Ingersoll family of discs includes plain edge discs, notched edge discs and the new SoilRazor disc, all in a variety of sizes and styles. You’ll also find special metals, like our new Rollable Boron discs and special surface treatments like the DuraFace. Best of all,...

Rollable boron discs enjoy the advanced properties of Ingersoll's exclusive boron alloy, yet the edges of these discs can be renewed by rolling, rather than grinding. For farmers who use rolling equipment, these discs offer the best of both worlds. Part Number The saw-tooth cutting edge of the SoilRazor Disc is extremely well-suited for deep soil penetration and cutting through the toughest of residue. With its unique profile,it maintains it's cutting ability long after traditional coulters have become dull.

Something for every farming application. Coulters come in a wide variety of sizes l and shapes. The right coulter for your application depends on your soil composition and humidity as well as the crop you're planting, the residue from your last \ crop and your choice of farming tech-T ■ niques. Plain coulters provide excellent ' penetration and cutting ability with very ' little soil disturbance while wavy coulters ' I disturb the soil to a much greater degree. Of course, the depth of the wave has a lot to do with how much the soil is disturbed. Fluted coulters are somewhere in between.
