Organic - Spinach - Giant Winter

Product catalog summary
Overview: Giant Winter is a hardy spinach variety known for its large leaves. It is best cultivated from mid-August to the end of October, allowing for a late winter harvest and spring sowing. Spinach can be used raw in smoothies, but should be blanched briefly before cooking to preserve its color and vitamins.
Natural Location: Spinach has been cultivated since ancient times in Persia, India, and China, and since the 14th century in Europe.
Cultivation: Prepare the soil by breaking it up and adding 2-3 liters of mature compost per square meter. Sow seeds 2-3 cm deep with 20-35 cm between furrows. Alternatively, pre-propagate by placing 5-7 seeds in a pot at 12°C, where they will germinate in 8-10 days. Cover plants with garden foil initially, and expect the first harvest in 6-8 weeks.
Place: Spinach thrives in humus-rich, penetrable soil and can be grown in sunny or semi-shaded areas. It develops roots approximately 30 cm deep.
Care: Spinach has low nutrient demands. Avoid excessive fertilization to prevent nitrate accumulation. Water regularly to maintain soil moisture, as dryness causes leaves to wither.
Winter Care: Spinach does not require protection during winter, which is its primary harvest season.

The plant can be cultivated either in sunny or a semi-shaded places. Care: Spinach has a low nutrient demand, and other than adding compost while initially preparing the patch it doesn’t need any additional nutrients. Too much fertilizing causes rather an undesirable nitrate accumulation in the leaves.
