The instrument feeds the sample continously to the sensor, and fills and weighs a defined volume in order to determine the bulk density (specific weight). It can measure small seeds like rape seed as well as peas and beans. A number of up to 1'500 single spectra were recorded and calculated to a mean. This spectrum is taken for the prediction of the single parameters. The physical principle is a diode array spectrometer without moveable parts, which has an integrated black/white reference. Influences on the measuring were eliminated by this. The Granolyser recognizes necessary service actions and prevents faulty measurements. The lifetime expectation of the lamp is more than 3 000 hours. The measuring range is from 950 to 1540 nm with a resolution of 256 Pixels. The Granolyser is equipped with a touchscreen display. The menu structure is user friendly and offers the feature of storage of spectra and results. The compact instrument is delivered with a set of calibrations for the folowing parameters and crops: moisture content (wheat, rye, barley, oats, rape seed, triticale, durum wheat, spelt, peas, soy beans, sunflower seed and corn), protein content (wheat, barley, spelt, soy beans, peas, corn and coming triticale and durum), oil content (rape seed, soy beans and sunflower seed), starch content (corn), further parameters like sedimentation index, gluten (wheat) and bulk density. The reults could be printed by an integrated printer, stored to an USb flash drive or transfered to a database server with additional software application by LAN interface.
