The automatic gravity filter consists of a mild steel tank which is divided into three compartments, one on top of the other. 1. The upper compartment ቢ serves as a storage tank for the backwash water. When full, the contents of this compartment ቢ are sufficient to backwash the entire filter medium. 2.
