CALIPETITE® CALIBRACHOA

Product catalog summary
Overview: Calipetite® Calibrachoa is a compact, easy-to-grow plant ideal for small containers and retail appeal. It requires no plant growth regulators (PGRs) or supplemental lighting, making it a low-maintenance option for growers.
Specifications: Calipetite® is naturally compact, maintaining a dense, bushy habit with continuous blooming. It is day-length neutral and thrives under bright light conditions. The plant is available in various colors, including Apricot Dream, Blue, Pink, Red, White, and more.
Procedures:
  • Propagation: Use a rooting hormone with up to 2500 ppm of IBA. Maintain soil temperatures at 73-78°F and air temperature at 68-73°F.
  • Potting: Plant one rooted cutting per 4 or 5-inch pot. Use a sterile, well-aerated mix with a pH range of 5.5 to 6.0.
  • Irrigation/Fertilization: Begin feeding with a balanced fertilizer at 200-300 ppm N once roots are established. Maintain an EC level of 0.8 – 1.2.
  • Temperature/Humidity: Establish the crop warm at 65°F, then grow at 65-70°F during the day and 63-65°F at night. Maintain humidity below 70%.
  • Light: Provide a minimum of 5,000-6,000 foot-candles. Supplemental light may be beneficial in low-light conditions.
Recommendations: Avoid using PGRs as they can stunt growth. Use gibberellic acid at 1-3 ppm to stimulate growth if necessary. Pinching promotes branching and fuller plants.
Troubleshooting:
  • Yellowing of young foliage: Check for high pH or low media iron levels.
  • Yellowing of lower foliage: Check for low nitrogen levels, high salts, or root and stem rot.
Crop Scheduling: From unrooted cutting, expect 4 weeks rooting time and additional weeks depending on pot size for total crop time.
Insect and Disease Management: Monitor for aphids, caterpillars, fungus gnats, and diseases like Botrytis and powdery mildew.
Note: All information is for general guidance and may need adjustments based on local conditions. Always follow manufacturer’s instructions for chemical applications.
