One component measures the temperature of the coating necessary for compensation of the oxygen measurement. The other measures the Oxygen partial pressure. The total pressure of a gas is the sum of the so-called partial pressures of the components in the gas. A standard atmosphere is composed of Oxygen, Nitrogen, some CO2, Water and some trace gasses.
