De Jongh - 1

DOWN WEEDER de Jongh O machines DE JONGH LDW - SELF-PROPELLED LAY The DE JONGH LDW is a self-propelled weeder for growers of organic or high value salad and vegetable crops. The operators lay down on this machine; a comfortable padded bed provides support. Electric motors drive the front wheels; power comes from a petrol fuelled generator. For security purposes, the generator can be quickly removed and taken away to reduce the likelihood of theft. A range of different models is available, all custom built to meet customer requirements, single bed and twin bed models have been produced by the company. A front row-feeler automatically senses the edges of the wheelings and activates the automatic steering system. Heavy-duty castor wheels fitted to the rear allow the machine change direction as the system is activated. The DE JONGH LDW features a strong but light, all aluminium chassis which gives the machine its distinctive look, as it does not require painting. Row widths can be easily changed for different crops and general adjustments are simple to make. The LDW has a joy stick control, and is provided with potentiometer speed control when operating in autosteering mode. Also, an alarm is fitted whereby the operators have to reset the machine every 5 minutes, just in case the operators fall asleep whilst lying down. A full dead stop cable and switch system is offered as optional equipment.
