The unique trait of the gas process is its compactness for being anaerobic, as methane-producing bacteria normally works very slowly. The MAT-process has been developed for de-watering and drying of the sludge fraction from effluent treatment in aquaculture. Sterner’s ABR-process produces biogas and removes suspended solids in effluent water from aquaculture. In this way effluent treatment is combined with energy production. This is of special interest in larger plants, where traditional mechanical dewatering and drying becomes too large and energy demanding. - Can handle variable loads...
