3.0 Safety This manual contains basic advice, which should be observed during setting-up, operation and maintenance. Therefore, this operating manual must be read by the personnel concerned prior to starting up and using the machine and be available at all times. 4.1 Operating The Sumo Multipacka Front Press should be set up so it runs level, this should be done by adjusting the top link appropriately, this will ensure the tools on the front are working effectively and no undue stresses are put onto the frames. If the machine is a hydraulic folding machine, the machine should be folded up for any transport and the “dog bone” transport lock placed across the two pins located on the outer hydraulic cylinder mounts. 5.0 Maintenance The condition of the tines and paddles should be monitored regularly to ensure excessive wear does not occur and wearing parts are replaced as required. The condition of the scrapers should be monitored regularly and adjusted or replaced as required to ensure they are working properly preventing soil building up on the packer. They must not be touching the packer though, as this will add to the rolling resistance and cause premature packer wear.
