Product Overview: Suståne Spring Weed and Feed 9-0-0 is a natural lawn
fertilizer and weed control product made from granulated corn gluten meal. It acts as a pre-emergent to prevent weed establishment in the spring and provides slow-release nitrogen to promote thicker lawns and lasting turf color.
Specifications: The product contains 100% corn gluten meal with a guaranteed analysis of 9.0% total nitrogen, all of which is water-insoluble and slowly available. It is available in a medium-grade granulation with a mesh size of -7+14 (2.8 mm to 1.4 mm).
Application Instructions: Apply 6 lb. per 1,000 sq. ft. using a broadcast spreader, providing 0.54 lb. of nitrogen per 1,000 sq. ft. For enhanced weed prevention, apply up to 20 lb. per 1,000 sq. ft. The product should be applied in early spring (April-May) before soil temperatures reach 55°F. It should not be used on new seeding or sod.
Spreader Settings: Settings vary by spreader type and may need adjustment based on walking speed and ground conditions. For example, Scotts Broadcast Spreaders should be set to 7, while Earthway Broadcast Spreaders should be set to 16.
Usage Tips: For sustainable weed control, apply corn gluten before weed seed germination, maintain a proper fertilizer program, mow routinely, and over-seed with grass seed mixed with Suståne. Water the lawn weekly during peak growing seasons.
Suståne’s 4 Step Lawn Program: This program includes four steps: Early Spring Weed Preventer, Early Summer Turf Maintenance, Late Summer Starter/Overseeder, and Fall Winterizer, designed to maintain professional quality lawns throughout the season.
Safety and Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, and keep out of reach of pets and children. Do not apply near water bodies or if heavy rain is expected. Sweep any product that lands on non-lawn surfaces back onto the lawn.
