Product catalog summary
Application: Bermad valves are designed for micro-irrigation, sprinklers, and pump control, available in various sizes and pressure ratings to accommodate complex irrigation systems.
Performance: These valves function within a flow range of 35 to 2400 GPM and a pressure range of 5 to 230 psi, with sizes ranging from 1½" to 10". They are hydraulically operated diaphragm valves with 3-way control.
Options: Valves can be controlled manually or electrically, featuring pressure reduction, pressure sustaining, and quick pressure relief, which can be combined for optimal performance.
Features: Designed for low friction loss and energy efficiency, these valves are user-friendly for maintenance and made from chemical-resistant materials for longevity and excellent regulation performance.
Plastic Valves: Constructed from durable glass-filled nylon, these valves are lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and designed for high flow capacity with minimal friction loss.
Metal Valves: Offering structural strength and durability, these valves withstand high pressure and water hammer risks, suitable for both vertical and horizontal installations.
Principles of Operation: The valves operate through hydraulic forces, with on/off control via manual, electric, or hydraulic commands. Pressure reduction and sustaining are managed through adjustable pilots.
Friction Loss Charts: Charts are included to illustrate pressure loss at various flow rates for different valve sizes.
Series Overview: Various series of plastic and metal valves are detailed, each with specific applications such as manual control, electric control, pressure reducing, and pressure sustaining, available in different sizes and configurations.
Dimensions and Weights: Detailed dimensions and weights for both plastic and metal valves are provided to aid in installation planning.
Specifications: Requirements for selecting optional pilot springs for valves operating outside the standard pressure range are outlined. For plastic valves, optional pilot spring codes are -K for 7-40 psi, -N for 11-95 psi, and -H for 15-100 psi. For 3" to 4" metal valves in the 420 and 42055 series, the spring codes are -10 for 7-150 psi and -16 for 15-230 psi.
Procedures: To add a pre-installed optional pilot spring to plastic valves, the correct spring code must be appended to the valve part number. Similarly, for upgrading 3" to 4" metal valves, the option code should be added to the part number.
Options and Upgrades: Options for brass fittings and copper tubing upgrades are denoted by the code -CB, and brass pilots by the code -R, applicable for 3" to 4" metal valves.

Principles of Operation On/off Control Application: On/off manual, electric or hydraulic command for master valve and zone control. In the diagram a manual 3-way selector is shown controlling the valve. A solenoid or hydraulic relay can be substituted to allow electric or hydraulic operation. Line pressure applied to the control chamber of the valve creates a hydraulic force that moves the valve to the closed position. Discharging pressure from the control chamber to atmosphere allows the line pressure to push the diaphragm up, thus opening the valve Pressure Reduction 3-Way Control Application:...
